I had the pleasure of developing the visual identity and brand styling for Hazal, a high-end Levantine restaurant and shisha lounge in Saudi Arabia. As part of Kraiv Investments, Hazal is a homegrown Saudi brand that redefines traditional Levantine cuisine with a modern, international perspective. The challenge was to create a brand that captured both elegance and atmosphere, reflecting the region’s deep appreciation for rich, smoky flavours, craftsmanship, and immersive dining experiences.

The name Hazal, meaning "falling leaves in autumn," was the foundation of the brand’s theme—symbolising warmth, nature, and seasonal beauty. The visual identity was designed to evoke organic movement, sensory depth, and a refined yet contemporary aesthetic, aligning with Hazal’s luxurious dining experience.
At the heart of the identity is a bespoke geometric leaf pattern, seamlessly incorporated into brand graphics, menus, and printed collateral. This abstract design brings a modern elegance to the brand, balancing cultural heritage with international appeal. The fluid typography was carefully crafted to mimic the movement of smoke, subtly reinforcing the shisha lounge’s ambiance and the restaurant’s sensory-driven concept.
Bringing The Outside In
The restaurant’s interior concept mirrors the organic elegance of the brand. Inspired by bringing nature indoors, the space features sculptural wooden textures, soft ambient lighting, and fluid architectural forms, creating an environment that feels almost like an art installation. The visual identity integrates seamlessly into this immersive setting, ensuring a cohesive brand experience that extends beyond just design.
Refined Luxury in Every Detail
The brand’s deep, smoky colour palette is inspired by charcoal, spices, and rich Levantine flavours, reinforcing the restaurant’s atmospheric warmth. This luxurious styling is carried across menus, signage, digital branding, and printed materials, ensuring a consistent and upscale brand presence. Every brand touchpoint, from menu covers to wayfinding signage and digital experiences, was meticulously designed to elevate the dining experience and enhance brand recognition.
